ConstructUI
Overview
Overview
ConstructUI is our ecommerce website for production-ready, paid Mendix widgets and components, built to install directly into Studio Pro and deploy straight into live applications. Browse custom Mendix widgets that can be easily ingested into modern React UI frameworks. Explore the full catalogue at https://constructui.com or contact STS for Construct UI Enterprise.
Action menu
ActionMenu adds contextual actions to rows, cards, toolbars, and detail pages. Collapse row and page actions into a compact three-dot menu that keeps your grids and toolbars uncluttered.
Configure any number of actions with icons, captions, and visibility conditions. It reads menu items from a JSON String attribute and can pass the selected action key and target ID to a microflow or nanoflow. Appearance settings support configurable colour, size, background, trigger label, placement, alignment, disabled state, and empty-menu behaviour.

Sortable Grid
SortableGrid helps users view structured work items, reorder rows through drag-and-drop, use paging, and run configured Mendix actions. Let users reorder list items by dragging them directly in the grid, with the new sequence written back to your domain model.
Drag any row to reorder it within its group, the sequence updates instantly, and every column can be filtered to help users find items quickly."
SortableGrid fits any scenario where order matters, task boards, project plans, priority lists, and grouped work items.

Documentation
Typical Usage Scenario
ConstructUI helps Mendix teams build polished work-management screens without creating every grid and contextual-action interaction from scratch.
Use SortableGrid for Product Backlogs, Backlog Cards, Challenges, archived items, test data, idea backlogs, and subfeatures. Users can review structured work items, reorder supported rows by drag and drop, use paging, and trigger configured Mendix actions.
Use ActionMenu in a grid row, card, toolbar, or detail page for contextual actions such as View, Edit, Archive, Restore, Duplicate, Move, or Delete.
This module is useful for software delivery, portfolio management, service operations, approval lists, and other Mendix applications needing dense but readable work-item views.
Features And Limitations
Features:
- SortableGrid Showcase modes: Product Backlog, Backlog Card, Challenge, archive, test data, idea backlog, and subfeature.
- Drag-and-drop reorder interaction with a configurable Mendix update action.
- Paging and configurable initial row count.
- Configurable SortableGrid actions for row clicks and common menu actions.
- Standalone ActionMenu with JSON-driven items.
- ActionMenu appearance settings: colour, icon size, button size, background, label, menu width, placement, alignment, disabled state, and empty message.
- ActionMenu item icons: view, edit, archive, restore, delete, duplicate, and move.
- ActionMenu item styles: default, muted, and danger.
Limitations:
- The Marketplace edition is a curated Showcase component, not an arbitrary dynamic JSON grid engine.
- SortableGrid columns and row layouts are fixed to the supported Showcase modes.
- Drag-and-drop changes must be persisted by the configured Mendix microflow or nanoflow.
- Dynamic columns, badge rules, custom icons, validation, and arbitrary JSON schemas require ConstructUI Enterprise.
- Web only; not intended for Mendix Native mobile applications.
Dependencies
No external library installation is required. The STS-owned stsdndkit library is bundled inside ConstructUI.
The widgets require a Mendix Web application and a Data View context that provides the configured attributes.
Installation
- Download and import the ConstructUI Marketplace module.
- Synchronise the project and open the required page.
- Add a Data View that supplies a context object.
- Add SortableGrid or ActionMenu from the Add-ons toolbox.
- Configure the required attributes and actions, then run the application.
Configuration
SortableGrid
Place SortableGrid inside a Data View. Create or use a context entity with:
- ListJson: String attribute containing supported SortableGrid JSON.
- ReturnJson: String attribute receiving the updated JSON result.
- Optional ListId: Integer attribute for selected list items.
- Optional ChallengeId: Integer attribute for selected challenges.
Select the required Display Mode. Map List Json to ListJson and The return Json to ReturnJson. Configure Update Position to persist drag-and-drop reordering. Configure optional row, card, challenge, and menu actions as needed.
ActionMenu
Place ActionMenu inside a Data View. Create or use a context entity with:
- ItemsJson: String attribute containing menu JSON.
- SelectedActionKey: String attribute.
- Optional SelectedTargetId: String attribute.
Map these attributes in the widget properties. Configure Selected item action with a microflow or nanoflow receiving the current Data View object. In the flow, read SelectedActionKey and SelectedTargetId to determine the business action.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use SortableGrid and ActionMenu separately?
Yes. Both are included in ConstructUI and can be placed independently.
Does ActionMenu overwrite ItemsJson after selection?
No. It writes only the selected action key and optional target ID.
Does the selected-action flow need String parameters?
No. Configure it with the current Data View object, then read its selected-action attributes.
Does SortableGrid automatically save a drag-and-drop order?
No. Configure SortableGrid’s Update Position action to save the returned order in Mendix.
Can ConstructUI Marketplace render any JSON structure?
No. ConstructUI Enterprise is required for arbitrary JSON-driven grids, dynamic columns, badge and icon rules, and customer-specific configuration.
