Documentation

Description

We already had the Bluetooth 2 connector kit for Android devices, but now we are happy to share a limited version of our Bluetooth Low Energy connector kit. With this kit you can connect your Mendix app to devices supporting the GATT protocol and get notifications from the connected device.

Typical usage scenario

As shown during the Mendix Maker meeting on the 21st of May 2019, we connected our Mendix app through this module with a Nordic Thingy Bluetooth Sensor kit, presenting the data on a page and eventually linking it with our Google Home connector.

Features and limitations

For now it only supports raw data in uint8 and uint16 format (check the service you want to connect  to which format they support).

Dependencies [optional]

  • Mendix Modeler 7.23.4

Configuration [optional]

Add the DeviceConnect Javascript action to a Nanoflow. Provide this action with the UUID's of the GATT service you want to connect to. This will launch the native (desktop/mobile) bluetooth connection screen.

Create a Measurement entity (provided in the module) and provide the Optional service and Characteristic UUID. Depending on the device, make a choice wether or not you want the data to be formated as a uint16  (will return as a String).
